True Blood star Anna Paquin sent out a celebratory equal marriage tweet on Monday saying “Proud to be a happily married bisexual mother. Marriage is about love, not gender. @eqca @NOH8Campaign @ItGetsBetter”
In 2010, Paquin came out as bisexual in a public service announcement for the True Colors Fund’s “Give a Damn” campaign. A few months later she married her husband, costar Stephen Moyer. A year later the couple had twins.
Though she believes that her sexual orientation is just a small part of herself, she wanted to speak out.
“If you’re going to talk about some cause in a way that’s meaningful, you should identify why it means something to you,”Paquin said to Zooey Magazine. “It’s not being greedy or numerous other ignorant things I’ve heard at this point. For bisexual, it’s not about gender. That’s not the deciding factor for who they’re attracted to.”
