Big Brother
Season 14/Episode 20
Airdate 8/26/12

At the start of this episode, we get to see the extra side stuff that happened in the last episode during the double eviction, starting with everyone pulling Ian into the Arcade Room in the two minutes between the end of the HOH competition and the nomination ceremony. Britney, Shane and Dan all calling for a Frank/Ashley nomination, while the others just looking to save themselves. Despite Ian wanting to back door Frank, he went with what the Quack Pack wanted and nominated Frank and Ashley.

After Frank won the veto competition, he pulled Ian into the Arcade Room and they agreed that Joe needed to go up. Frank is still thinking he has Ian on his team somewhat and is pleading with Ian to help him keep Ashley. After some harsh words between Joe and Frank in the living room, Ashley is sent home. Once Ashley leaves Frank goes off on Ian and Britney attempts to intervene.

Frank’s words took a toll on Ian because next we see him he is pacing in the bathroom saying he’s going to burn in hell. Dan talks him down the best he can, stating he’s not Quack Pack, he’s Renegade now, referring to Dan’s past season’s alliance.

Frank pulls Danielle and Shane in for a talk while Ian and Britney walk in and Frank tells Ian to leave. Frank goes on about how he’s not against them, he’s against Dan. This sends Danielle into tears and she asks to speak to Frank alone. She knows that if he wins HOH he will put up Dan and likely her on the block against him. She tells Frank that she has nothing against him and they hug. Britney then pulls Frank in the storage room and tells him her and Shane are onboard with teaming up with him. Cut to her in the diary room stating that she wants him gone, but should he win HOH she needs to keep her options open.

HOH competition is a matter of balance and patience. Everyone is asked to balance a ball on a beam that is raised via pulley up a wall full of numbered holes. They are ranked by the number in the hole that they get it in. Once they are all ranked they put them in head to head competitions by their rank. First competition was Dan versus Frank and Frank won. Frank then goes on to beat out each and every player, ending with Shane, to secure HOH. Frank has to choose the one have-not for the week and picks Dan, making Dan have-not for his first time ever on Big Brother.

Frank pulls Britney aside for a chat and states that he is going to put up Dan and Danielle. Britney says she would like to vote to keep Danielle but will vote how Frank wants her to. He asks for her to not put him up for a while, she states “for a long while”. He asks if she will work with him to final four and she states, “yes”. Frank walks into the HOH room and comes upon Pandora’s box with a video hint of money behind the door.

The clue reads he can get up to $10,000 and Frank decides to open Pandora’s Box. Inside he is told he is able to open three cubes containing dollar amounts, of which the total he can keep. His first pick is $1.05, his second pick holds $7.11 and his third pick snagged him $3,333.33. He is now stuck in Pandora’s box for one hour while the other half of the consequences are unleashed on the house. The rest of the house is informed that Pandora’s Box is open and there’s a second veto available but to win it you need $.50. It starts raining balls and they’re looking for quarters in the balls. Dan gets the first set of quarters and runs to the arcade room where the question box is replaced by a veto ball. When he misses it, he tells everyone he already got it to have them quit looking, but Joe calls his bluff and informs everyone he was lying.

Ian is next and takes a shot at it, missing as well. Britney is third and grabs hold of the veto ball, but it drops just before it makes it. Dan gets another $.50 and takes another crack at it, dropping it. Ian takes a peek at the spot and opted to not go for it, thinking other people will bring it closer. After getting called out by Dan, he goes in and takes a stab at it anyway and snags the extra veto.

Frank is released from the HOH and Ian tells him he got the veto. Frank tells Ian he’s thinking of putting him up against Danielle because he was aligned with Dan and that way Dan might not be able to compete and won’t be able to be saved by Ian’s veto. Ian says nothing and Frank then gets upset in regards to Ian being “wishy-washy”. Ian tells Frank to do what he wants and leaves the room.

Britney then starts to talk Frank down and asks that he sticks with Dan and Danielle. Frank is clueless that this is in hopes of her or Shane winning the regular veto and that, with their vetos combined, they can pull both Dan and Danielle down. Britney tells Frank to just tell Ian directly that he’s not putting him up and to not use the veto on Dan. He calls Ian in and tells him just that, but Ian still remains uncommitted and tells Frank to do what he wants.

Despite not getting a commitment from Ian, Frank goes ahead with nominating Dan and Danielle, dedicating the nomination in memory of Ashley and Boogie.

In the diary room, Dan states that he plans to have Ian use the extra veto should he not win the veto comp. Frank didn’t play with his head – smart thing to do would to be put up Ian but Britney got to him. I see a double veto coming, at the very least Dan remaining in the house.
