And not to crush you any more, but neither is her BFF Michelle Williams.
Despite the rumors swirling around about the two, Philipps clarified with The Advocate that she has been happily married to Marc Silverstein since 2007.
While she may not be a lesbian, Philipps does understand why people might think that her and Williams could be be more than “just friends.”
“I believe sexuality is fluid, and women can have a deep love and affection for other women,” Philipps told the magazine. “My friendship with Michelle has stood the test of time, and we’ve been together through many different versions of our lives. I love her as deeply as I love almost anyone. But we don’t do it.”
However, even as a straight woman, Philipps believes marriage equality is important. Important enough to shoot a video for HRC’s Americans for Marriage Equality campaign, in fact.
“It’s ludicrous that my friends in California aren’t able to legally get married,” Philipps said. “It’s a civil rights issue. Why is marriage equality so important to me? Because I’m a decent human being.”
In fact, she’s so passionate about it that Philipps’ daughter Birdie Leigh, has even picked up on it. The Chick-fil-A loving four-year-old overheard Philipps talking to her mother about the Chick-fil-A anti-gay fiasco last year. Later, Birdie told her father, “Daddy, we can’t eat Chick-fil-A anymore. The guy who owns it is so weird. He thinks a guy can’t marry a guy and a girl can’t marry a girl. But we know better!”
So, while Philipps may not be playing for our team, she still straddling our side, which is the next best thing.
