California ‘Kill the Gays’ Bill Proceeds Through Legal System

642d78cca6e205c9_640_CaliforniaThough Matt McLaughlin’s Sodomite Suppression Act ballot initiative that proposes killing those that preform sexual acts with the same sex with “bullets to the head,” is unconstitutional, it still must circulate through the California legal system.

The California lawyer paid the $200 filing fee and, therefore, California Attorney General Kamala Harris said he is now forced to allow the measure to circulate for the 365 signatures needed for it to appear on next year’s ballot.

The initiative says, “The abominable crime against nature known as buggery, called also sodomy, is a monstrous evil that Almighty God, giver of freedom and liberty, commands us to suppress on pain of our utter destruction…”

Instead of being “killed by God’s wrath,” the initiative proposes that, “any person who willingly touches another person of the same gender for purposes of sexual gratification be put to death by bullets to the head or by any other convenient method.”

It also says no person shall distribute or perform sodomistic propaganda to minors and if so, “they shall be fined $1 million per occurrence and/or imprisoned up to 10 years, and/or expelled from the boundaries of the state of California for up to life.”

Fellow at the Center for Social Cohesion at Arizona State University Joe Mathews said a “human rights exception” should be made when such proposals attack the integrity of the initiative process.

“When you are taking away fundamental human rights – as in the right to live – it is appropriate to give our public officials a formal exception that they can invoke to block an initiative that violates fundamental human rights.”

Activist Charlotte Laws said she is filing the Intolerant Jackass Act.

“Any person, herein known as an ‘Intolerant Jackass,’ who brings forth a ballot measure that suggests the killing of gays and/or lesbians, whether this measure is called the Sodomite Suppression Act or is known by some other name, shall be required to attend sensitivity training for at least three hours per month for 12 consecutive months,” the bill reads. “In addition, the offender or ‘Intolerant Jackass’ must donate $5,000 to a pro-gay or pro-lesbian organization.”

State Sen. Ricard Lara has asked the State Bar of California to investigate McLaughlin and more than 3,800 people have signed a petition asking State Bar President Craig Holden to revoke his law license.
