DemiLovato_Launch_Hero_081914_1.1The Tyler Clementi Foundation has launched a special campaign with Demi Lovato through Omaze, the company that offers once-in-a-lifetime experiences that also support social missions. Beginning Monday, those who donate $10 to this campaign enter for a chance to win two premium tickets to Lovato’s October 25 concert at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey and a private meet and greet with the singer. The winner also receives airfare and hotel accommodations.

The Tyler Clementi Foundation honors the life and story of Tyler Clementi, who died by suicide following a cyber-bullying incident that happened during the first three weeks of his freshman year at Rutgers University.

“Demi is once again demonstrating her commitment to standing up and speaking out against bullying,” said James Clementi of the Tyler Clementi Foundation and brother of the late Tyler Clementi. “We are extremely grateful to Demi for lending her time, her name, and her voice to help us bring an end to the bullying that happens in person and online to countless young people.”

The Tyler Clementi Foundation promotes safe, inclusive and respectful social environments in homes, schools, campuses, churches, and the digital world for vulnerable youth, LGBTQ youth, and their allies. Funds raised from this campaign will allow the Tyler Clementi Foundation to reach more young people and their families with a message of hope. Proceeds will allow the Clementi family to speak at schools, churches, synagogues, and other venues that may not be able to afford it, at no cost to those who invite them.

“A family should never have to endure the pain of losing a beloved son or daughter to suicide as a result of bullying,” James Clementi noted. “Our foundation advocates for change and providing resources for those struggling with bullying and depression. Many of Tyler’s peers were aware that Tyler was being bullied without stopping it. We want to turn bystanders into Upstanders. Everyone deserves dignity and a safe space to be who they are, and when we build our school, work and family environments based on this principle we take the first step towards preventing these tragedies.”

Founded by writer/filmmakers and friends from college, Matt Pohlson and Ryan Cummins, Omaze is an online charity platform that gives anyone the chance to win once-in-a-lifetime experiences that also support remarkable causes. Omaze has worked with top actors, musicians, and athletes around the world including George Clooney, Ben Affleck & Matt Damon, Lady Gaga, Will Smith, George Lucas, Jennifer Lopez, and Phil Jackson, to name a few.

Singer, songwriter and actress, Lovato has sold millions of albums worldwide, and is a New York Times best-selling author. With over 24 million twitter followers and 36 million fans on Facebook, she continues to use her voice and her platform to speak out against bullying and stand up for equality for LGBTQ people, as evidenced by her involvement in this campaign.

“Having experienced bullying firsthand when I was younger, I know how isolating it feels and how hard it can be to seek help,” Lovato said. “Luckily, I was able to overcome the bullying I faced through the support of trusted friends and family and I’m really excited to continue to help more young people through the Tyler Clementi Foundation.”

The campaign runs through October 14. Interested participants can donate to the Tyler Clementi Foundation and bid on the Demi Lovato experience using this link.
