With Teatro ZinZanni closing in San Francisco, the magic of European style cirque-dinner theatre under the spectacular spiegeltent has become a stunning and wholly unique attraction only to be seen the Pacific Northwest. With audiences of over 80,0000 per year and the ability to draw the directing talents of living legend Tommy Tune and original Culture Clash member Ricardo Salinas, as well as performances from Tony Award-winning star Liliane Montevecchi and popular folk singer/songwriter Joan Baez, these dynamic, energy-infused productions are truly unlike any other theatre experience in the United States.

To the delight of both Seattleites and travelers to the Pacific Northwest, a brand new show will open in Seattle’s illustrious spiegeltent this summer—Gangsters of Love is a throwback to the 1920s and 1930s mob days, conceived by internationally renowned performer Dreya Weber. Weber teamed up with long-time friend and colleague Frank Ferrante (well-known by Teatro ZinZanni audiences, seen in previous Seattle productions including Hail! Caesar, Bottega ZinZanni, A Rosa da Rio, and L’Affaire d’Amour) to write the show and to bring it to life in the round underneath the tent. Together, these two also star alongside a wealth of talent from around the globe including powerhouse blues chanteuse Francine Reed, famous for her collaboration with Lyle Lovett and her Madame ZinZanni roles in Maestro’s Menagerie, Beaumount and Caswell, and Quest for a Queendom.

“This show was a revelation for me, because I love the room so much,” Weber commented of the ZinZanni tent and Gangsters of Love. “I’ve never been able to do anything creatively where I could bring together all these varying elements; bring aerialists, acting, interacting, and singing into one form. It is so much fun!”

Weber returns to Teatro ZinZanni after her most recent role in the tent as Cleopatra in Hail! Caesar. Her most recent film work includes Ned Farr’s A Marine Story and The Gymnast in addition to Nicole Holofcener’s Lovely and Amazing – all of which won numerous awards at film festivals throughout the world.  As an aerialist, she both choreographed and performed in Pink’s celebrated 2010 Grammy performance, which was called “transcendent” by Oprah Winfrey. Dreya’s lengthy list of choreography and aerial performing credits includes work with many of the greatest artists of our time: Michael Jackson, Britney Spears, Leona Lewis, Rihanna, Cher, Madonna, Christina Aguilera, and Carrie Underwood. In 2009 she starred in and choreographed an international theatrical production of Dante’s Divine Comedy for the NNT in Holland – which was the first time she integrated her aerial work with her singing on stage. In addition to her film work, she guest starred in several episodes of The Practice and her theatre credits include numerous Broadway and off-Broadway appearances.

Teatro ZinZanni is an original show, which combines European cirque, cabaret, spectacle, and live music meanwhile serving up a five-course feast designed by celebrated Northwest Chef Erik Carlson. The show is presented in a gorgeous, climate-controlled, antique cabaret tent (known as a spiegeltent).  Imported from Belgium, the spiegeltent is nicknamed the Moulin Rouge. Built in 1910, it boasts stained glass, hand-carved wooden interior columns, polished crystal and mirrors. Guests are seated restaurant-style in this unique venue, and the action of the show takes place throughout the circular structure. The Moulin Rouge comfortably seats 285 guests.
