Ellen DeGeneres continues to practice what she preaches: Be kind to one another.
The talk show host found out about a good deed Sarah Hoidahl did and returned that favor times 300.
Hoidahl, a single mother and waitress at the Concord Ruby Tuesday, bought lunch for two National Guard women during the government shutdown. Hoidahl left a note saying: “Thanks to the government shutdown the people like you that protect this country are not getting paid, however I still am. Lunch is on me! Thank you ladies! Have a good day!”
The women posted the note on their Facebook page which immediately got a ton of attention. Ellen had Hoidahl come to her show and not only repaid her the $27.75 lunch bill, but also gave her $10,000.
Oh, and a 50 inch television.
“The most important thing here, that’s why I have you here,” DeGeneres joked. “Your television is broken so you’re not able to watch me and that’s unacceptable.”
