Ellen DeGeneres has once again smashed down any rumors that her seven-year marriage to Portia de Rossi is in shambles.
In fact, she said she doesn’t even know that it’s a rumor until someone tells her.
“We don’t know anything about it until somebody tells us,” DeGeneres said on Howard Stern’s SiriusXM radio show. “I don’t read the tabloids, and I don’t have a publicist.”
“I don’t understand why they do this,” she said. “We’re kind of flattered because for a while no one cared about us and we thought ‘Oh, lesbians aren’t worthy of tabloid stories’ so now we’re kind of flattered that they care about us.”
DeGeneres also shut down the rumors that she and de Rossi are living separately or in the midst of a $220 million divorce battle.
“We really don’t almost break up, we don’t fight, we’re madly in love, and I guess it’s boring.”
This isn’t the first time DeGeneres has had to defend her marriage. In February, she denied the tabloids’ rumor that the two were struggling and de Rossi wasn’t wearing her ring.
“The tabloids had a photo of Portia not wearing her wedding ring,” DeGeneres said at the time. “She goes, ‘I didn’t wear it because when I ride horses and I’m holding the reins, it gives me a blister!”
She went on to say that she falls in love with Portia more and more every day.
“I really do,” she said. “She surprises me all the time. It’s what anyone experiences when you find that person that gets you, wants to take care of you, wants the best for you. We’re really lucky because we know how rare it is.”
