About a year-and-a-half after coming out to the public, actress Ellen Page has now made her first debut with a girlfriend.
Page and surfer Samantha Thomas made their first appearance together at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 13 at the premiere of Freeheld.
When asked why Page chose the film festival to show off the couple together, Page said because “I’m in love,” and that “walking down the carpet holding my girlfriend’s hand is pretty special. It’s pretty awesome.”
Since the festival, Page has posted another picture of the couple laughing together at a dance event.
Page caught the media’s attention last month after speaking to presidential candidate Ted Cruz at the Iowa State Fair, when spoke to him about whether or not his believed gays and lesbians were discriminated against under religious freedom laws.
Freeheld, starring Page and Julianne Moore as a lesbian couple fighting for domestic rights, will hit U.S. theaters October 2.
