Juno star Ellen Page just came out a little over a month ago, but she has already experienced some hate.
Page, who came out in February at a youth LGBT conference in Las Vegas, now infamously told the crowd, “I am here today because I am gay. And because…Maybe I can make a difference…Regardless, for me, I feel a personal obligation and a social responsibility.”
Last week, an unnamed Pastor sent Page a letter to which Page took to Twitter to respond:
“2 da Pastor who wrote me-Being gay isn’t a belief. My soul isn’t struggling& I don’t want arms of Heavenly Father around me.A girls arms? Yes.
The tweet received over 13,000 retweets and 23,000 favorites.
Though Page has dealt with some hate mail, she has also had an overwhelming amount of praise and support. From Jesse Tyler Ferguson to Lance Bass to Anna Kendrick, Page was showered with love on Twitter after her announcement.
The newest rumors swirling around the actress suggest that she and Kate Mara will be staring in HBO’s True Detective after the friends posted a picture with the caption “#TrueDetectiveSeason2” which was later favorited by HBO.
“Dear @EllenPage, What does this mean?! You think they like the idea of two tiny detectives?” Mara tweeted at Page.
“@_KateMara I think that basically is the equivalent of a signed contract. I will see you in rehearsals!” she responded.
The two ladies were spotted out together at Chateau Marmont prompting rumors that they might be seeing each other.
