Six years after being sent home in disgrace from their LDS missions, RJ Smith (Nick Ferrucci) and Chris Merrill (Benjamin Farmer), struggle to reconcile their love for one another with church teachings that forbid it.
Portland-based Lake Productions and FauxMeme Productions, in association with Breaking Glass Pictures, are proud to announce the release of The Falls: Covenant of Grace, the long-awaited conclusion to the hit film trilogy by Northwest writer-director Jon Garcia.
The final film follows on the heels of The Falls (2012), wherein missionary companions Chris and RJ fall in love, and The Falls: Testament of Love (2013), in which a chance reunion ends in a failed marriage and unresolved longings.

As The Falls: Covenant of Grace opens, Chris and RJ have been growing closer, albeit from a distance. Chris, now divorced, still lives in Salt Lake City with his daughter Kaylee. RJ has moved to Portland, and is a successful writer. Chris takes a weekend trip to visit RJ in Portland, but their burgeoning relationship is thrown for a loop when the LDS church announces a ban against baptisms for children of same sex couples. They are divided about how to handle the announcement, and what it means for their relationship and their faith. If they choose to be together, can their faith still play a role in their lives?
The film explores themes of conditional love becoming unconditional, and the dichotomy of sexuality and religion.
“Jon Garcia delivers a sensitive and beautifully-crafted story about the relationship between two Mormon men,” said Richard Ross, Co-President of Breaking Glass. “For the many devout fans of the series, this is a perfect close to the trilogy, and for new viewers, a chance to discover an incredible love story.”

Garcia is an accomplished filmmaker who has produced five feature films under the banner of Lake Productions, his Portland-based media company. Lake Productions has recently been approved for a non-profit fiscal sponsorship with Fractured Atlas to procure post-production funds to complete the editing, sound design, marketing, graphics, and PR. Donations can be made directly through Fractured Atlas, or via an upcoming Indiegogo campaign.
“The fact that The Falls became a trilogy at all is a surprise to even me, and even more surprising was the innate need I had to finish it,” said director Garcia. “Though I’m a little sad I’ll never work on another one of these movies, I think collectively, we found the right way to bring this story to a fitting close.”
