The VMA’s gender-bending bisexual superstar Lady Gaga has a thing or two to share with Lisa Simpson. Yes, we said Lisa Simpson…as in….the saxophone playing modern maven in The Simpsons.
Brazenly LGBT-friendly Gaga will play herself as she travels to Springfield to show yellow Lisa a thing or two about self-esteem and all things gay – even singing a song in the episode as a method of cheering up the young gal.
The actress behind Lisa Simpson, Yeardly Smith, recently shared with Broadway.com, “This is extraordinary! I’m stunned that she has time in her schedule that she’s coming to our studio to record. She’s playing herself, and [The Simpsons writers] describe her as the happiest, most optimistic person in the world. She comes to Springfield to try to cheer up Lisa, but she can’t.”
Gaga told Entertainment Weekly, “I make music, but I don’t do voice-overs every day of the week and their characters are so awesomely convincing and sincere and wild and funny, I had to remind myself constantly of the sincerity of the humor. That’s what I was trying to focus on, not putting on a character too much and really being as sincere as I could with the lines.”
“I would say this is one of the coolest things I’ve ever done,” she added. “My dad’s probably going to do 80 back flips when the episode comes out.”
The episode is titled “Lisa Goes Gaga” and will air as part of the longstanding show’s 23rd season, which arrives on your television sets beginning Sept. 25.
