Thirty-four years after starring together in Nine to Five, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin are reuniting on screen for a new Netflix series, Grace and Frankie.
The comedy series focuses on the two women Grace (Fonda) and Frankie (Tomlin) whose lives change when their husbands reveal they are gay and leave the women for each other.
“These women’s worlds are forever changed,” Fonda said. “Everything they thought they knew about their lives is over.”
Once the news unfolds, Grace and Frankie, once rivals, share a special bond that brings them closer together.
Fonda said the show is on the line of comedy and drama, “tackling real issues with a hilarious spin.”
Fonda said she and Tomlin kept in touch after Nine to Five so this new show was a “long-overdue reunion.”
“[It was] like spending time with my dear old friend,” Fonda said.
“People say we have a lot of chemistry together,” Tomlin said. “It’s because we’ve been friends for so many years. It seems like we’ve known each other always.”
Grace and Frankie premieres on Netflix May 8 with all 13 episodes dropping at once.
