Jim Nabors and partner Stan Cadwallader have tied the knot after 38 years.
Nabors, best known for playing the goofy gas attendant ”Gomer Pyle” in The Andy Griffith Show, and Cadwallader left their Honolulu home to wed in Seattle January 15, according to Hawaii News Now.
Nabors told the newspaper that he never kept his homosexuality a secret to co-workers and friends, but he never felt the need to tell the media…until now.
“I’m 82 and he’s in his 60s and so we’ve been together for 38 years and I’m not ashamed of people knowing, it’s just that it was such a personal thing, I didn’t tell anybody,” Nabors said over the phone to Hawaii News Now. “I’m very happy that I’ve had a partner of 38 years and I feel very blessed. And, what can I tell you, I’m just very happy.”
The two met when Cadwallader was a firefighter in Honolulu in 1975. The private ceremony was performed by a judge at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel in Seattle and was witnessed by friends.
