President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama were the targets of comedian Joan Rivers’ latest jokes, when she called Obama gay and his wife transgender.

When asked by an on-the-street interviewer with a photographer whether the 81-year-old thought the United States would have a gay president she said, “We already have it with Obama, so let’s just calm down.”

“You know Michelle is a trans,” she added.

When asked to clarify she said “A transgender. We all know.”

Rivers refused to apologize about it later, saying her comment was actually a compliment.

“I think it’s a compliment. She’s so attractive, tall, with a beautiful body, great face, does great makeup. Take a look and go back to La Cage Au Follies (sic). The most gorgeous women are transgender,” she said to CNN. “Stop it already…and if you want to talk about ‘politically correct,’ I think this is a ‘politically incorrect’ attack on me because I’m old, Jewish, a woman and a ‘hetty’ — a heteosexual … and I plan to sue the reporter who, when he turned off his camera, tried to touch me inappropriately on the a** – luckily he hit my ankle. Read the book…if you think that’s silly, wait to (sic) you see what I say about FDR and Eleanor!”

Fans of the comedienne are having a field day on Facebook. One reader posted: “You are the ugliest bitch I’ve ever seen and Herman Munster wants his face back,” and another one saying, “Hey Joan f–k you how dare you call the president gay and his wife a tranny you plastic bitch 81 and still getting plastic surgery you look like a f–king man in drag asshole.”

Well, okay then.

Rivers certainly isn’t new to making offensive jokes – it seems nothing is off-limits.

In 2013 the Anti-Defamation League got on Rivers’ case for a joke she refused to apologize for about Heidi Klum, saying, “The last time a German looked this hot was when they were pushing Jews into the ovens.”

Diary of a Mad Diva, Rivers’ latest book was released July 1.

“These are all funny jokes,” Rivers’ representative said. “The book is hysterical. The prologue says if anyone takes anything in the book seriously (he or she) is an idiot. And (Rivers) says if anyone has a problem with that, they can feel free to call her lawyer Clarence Darrow.”
