Lesbian comedian Kate McKinnon took on the role of the 81-year-old Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg during Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update to speak about the oral arguments on same-sex marriage.
“The arguments I heard, they were so weak, I just hope they’re not holding up Justice [Antonin] Scalia’s chair,” she joked, adding that it was a “Justice Gins-burn.”
When Colin Jost asked about states like Kentucky that want to keep its marriage ban, McKinnon called the state a “real 21st century state.”
“I could call out that their most famous citizen is a fried chicken salesman who looks like he should be sipping iced tea at a slave auction, but I’m not gonna go there,” she said. “And by there, I mean Kentucky.”
And that’s a Gins-burn.
“I gotta push same-sex marriage through before God remembers I’m still alive,” she said. “The grim reaper, he came for me once, but I punched his lights out, I stole his robe.”
