Kelly Clarkson’s new music video for “Heartbeat Song” features a gay couple.

The first American Idol winner, Kelly Clarkson, has released another hit from her new album Piece by Piece. The new video for “Heartbeat Song”shows different couples, varying from mixed-race couples to a gay couple, starting out new relationships and eventually falling in love.

Chad Laboy and Zac Woodward, who appear as the gay couple in the video, revealed they really did get engaged while on the set. In the video, Woodward, a Nashville radio station producer, gets down on one knee and proposes to Laboy.

Piece by Piece is Clarkson’s seventh studio album and it drops March 3, 2015, but the Grammy winner almost didn’t make a new album because she thought she lost her voice after the birth of her daughter in 2014.

“Afterwards was the part where I literally had a moment where I cried and drank wine all day,” Clarkson, 32, told ET Canada in an interview. “I was like, ‘Oh God, I’m not going to be a singer anymore’ … I was bawling to my husband and completely hammered, just going, ‘Oh my God, it’s over. I don’t know what I’m going to do. I guess I could do more charity work.’ I didn’t know what I was going to do.”

As for Piece by Piece, it’s bound to make you get up and feel the groove.

“It’s an uplifting record. I’ve always been a person about empowerment and doing empowering songs,” she says. “There’s empowering songs on the record, and there’s a lot of positive on there.”
