Five days after Beyonce announced she would no longer perform at Coachella this year, Lady Gaga announced she will take her place, headlining both weekends.
Beyonce, who was scheduled to headline April 15 and 22, has bowed out of the performance following doctor’s advice considering she will be in her third trimester with twins.
“Following the advice of her doctors to keep a less rigorous schedule in the coming months, Beyonce has made the decision to forgo performing at the 2017 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival,” the festival said on their Facebook page. “However, Goldenvoice and Parkwood are pleased to confirm that she will be a headliner at the 2018 festival. Thank you for your understanding.”
According to Billboard, an insider said that Coachella organizers found it important to have a female headliner to replace Beyonce, which will make Lady Gaga the first woman to headline the festival since Bjork in 2007.
Gaga tweeted, “Let’s party in the desert!” along with a photo of the updated Coachella lineup. Other performers include Radiohead, Kendrick Lamar, The Head & The Heart and Grouplove.
