On Sunday, June 25, Seattle will proudly host their annual Pride Parade, with the theme this year being “Indivisible.” Obviously, if you’re coming from out of town to join in the fun, you will probably need to find somewhere to stay. Almost every travel recommendation website has a different selection of top LGBT-friendly hotels based on the reviews they have received. So, we’ve attempted to find the hotels that appeared near the top of many of these lists, combined them with our personal opinions and feedback from our friends, and are presenting our best picks for this year’s Pride festivities.
The Bacon Mansion Bed & Breakfast
Address: 959 Broadway E, Seattle, WA 98102
Let’s begin with the hotel that appeared most frequently in LGBT-friendly recommendation lists: The Bacon Mansion Bed & Breakfast. Not only does the name of this establishment put us at ease (*Homer Simpson drool*), the atmosphere within the bed & breakfast is said to be very comfortable and friendly. It’s the sort of place where you can use the kitchen microwave, grab a plate off one of the dining tables and be on your way. Although they do ask that you return the plate at some point.
There are a total of 10 rooms available, all with their own individual stories and charm. For instance, The Rose Room, situated on the second floor of the main house, was originally a nursery and then a maid’s room. Meanwhile, The Cabin Room, with it’s odd low, cut-off door, remains a mystery despite appearing in many old photographs from when the house was originally constructed. Spooky.
Tulalip Resort Casino
Address: 10200 Quil Ceda Blvd, Tulalip, WA 98271
Described as “a fusion of ideas and experiences that blend together to form an amazing resort” by Homoculture writer Brian Webb, the Tulalip Resort Casino combines the thrills of Las Vegas with the native warmth of Seattle. Plus, since renovations were only recently finished, this 12-story hotel is more modern, luxurious and comfortable than ever.
Speaking of experiences, one can’t stay at the Tulalip Resort Casino without visiting the on-site attractions. There are a total of seven restaurants, all of which proudly stock local ingredients, as well as a health and wellness spa, a fitness centre and it is even situated next to the Seattle Premium Outlet Mall. Of course, there’s also the casino where High Rollers come to have their fun, so if you enjoy playing slots or can often be found playing poker then you certainly need to take a look. That said, even if you’re a bit of a noob you can always get some practice by visiting some of the Top 5 Poker Sites online to really hone your skills beforehand.
Of course, Seattle is not limited to just these two accommodation options, there are many more that come highly recommended. For example, there’s the Kimpton Alexis Hotel from a chain that has been supporting the LGBT community since they first opened in San Francisco over three decades ago.
The Sheraton Seattle Hotel, Gaslight Inn and The Seahurst Garden Studio are also great options as each of them has received mass amounts of positive feedback based not only on their quality venues but on their acceptance of their customers.
We can’t wait for June 25, so let us know if you’re coming and what you’ll be getting up to during the day.
