Lifelong AIDS Alliance in Seattle

The Washington Health Benefit Exchange has announced the selection of Lifelong AIDS Alliance (Lifelong) to perform community outreach as part of a broader marketing and communications effort for Washington Healthplanfinder. Washington Healthplanfinder is a new way for people to find, compare and enroll in health insurance in Washington and gain access to free or low-cost health coverage.

Lifelong, based in Seattle, received $150,000 in grant funds being provided by the Exchange to serve a statewide service coverage area serving low-income, multilingual, diverse communities with a focus on serving unemployed people and those living with chronic health conditions, most of whom are likely to be uninsured on January 1, 2014.

Lifelong is one of eight organizations, including local non-profits, community clinics, training programs, faith-based organizations and other community groups, chosen to help educate individuals about new health coverage options through their networks. Lifelong will be delivering services through its program WAcare, a network of community organizations rooted in their mission to improve the health of vulnerable, medically fragile populations. In addition to Lifelong, WAcare consists of Evergreen Wellness Advocates in Everett, Pierce County AIDS Foundation in Tacoma, and the Spokane AIDS Network.

“We are proud to partner with Lifelong to reach people where they are,” said Richard Onizuka, CEO for the Washington Health Benefit Exchange. “With their support, we are one step closer to enrolling the one million uninsured here in Washington in new health coverage options.”

Lifelong will be responsible for educating residents about Washington Healthplanfinder and connecting them to local resources to sign up for health insurance, such as in-person assisters, local insurance brokers or the toll-free Customer Support Center at 1-855-WAFINDER. Lifelong’s established networks offer expertise at reaching specific populations across the state who may be difficult to connect with through advertising or media outreach.

“Lifelong is committed to helping our State’s most vulnerable and health-compromised individuals access medical care and treatment,” states Randall Russell, Lifelong’s CEO. “We are thrilled at being chosen as an Outreach Partner for outreach and enrollment services across Washington State.”
