Musician Linda Perry appeared on The Talk today to discuss her involvement with the Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Center, and their upcoming annual event “An Evening with Women.” Perry talked about the center’s work with LGBT youth, providing counseling and shelter to homeless teens, but also the services provided to LGBT seniors. While there, she gave very moving performances of “Letter to God” and “Beautiful,” a song she wrote that was made famous by Christina Aguilera. Some of the hosts, such as Sharon Osbourne, were moved to tears.
Since its premiere on television two years ago, The Talk has brought viewers continued coverage of positive LGBT stories, including wearing purple on Spirit Day as a sign of support for LGBT youth. Linda Perry is currently dating host Sara Gilbert, the couple attended the GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles on April 21.
Perry will be headlining “An Evening with Women,” on May 19 along with Wanda Sykes, Samantha Ronson, Courtney Love, and the band Camp Freddy.
