Ckw8X2OW0AAYXUiMatilda and Miracle on 34th Street child actress Mara Wilson announced to the world via Twitter that she has started to embrace the label “bi/queer.”
After the Orlando tragedy, Wilson started tweeting about her past with gay clubs.
She first tweeted out a picture of herself at 18 at her first gay club.
“Being a ‘straight girl’ where I clearly didn’t belong, but I will say, I felt so welcomed there,” Wilson tweeted. “I have never had a better experience at a club than I did then. Great music and people. And one of my friends met his partner that night! I haven’t been to one since college, except once when a friend brought me along. I didn’t feel like I belonged there.”
She added, “But the LGBTQ community has always felt like home, especially a few years later when I, uh, learned something about myself. So thank you.”
She clarified later by tweeting “Let me put it this way: I’m a 2. …I know a lot of people don’t like the Kinsey scale, and that is fine by me. But I’m pragmatic at heart and find comfort in numbers.”
Wilson said that “…I *used* to identify as mostly straight. I’ve embraced the Bi/Queer label lately.”
Though she came forth with information about her sexuality, Wilson made it clear her life will continue to be private.
“Your support is much appreciated,” she tweeted. “I will say, though, I’m still gonna be pretty private about my relationships, as I always have been.”
She ended her tweets by saying that she will stay away from the social media site for a while.
“I think I’m going to stay off Twitter for a few days,” Wilson tweeted. “I had no idea this would be such a thing, but I guess it’s flattering. Thank you so much to everybody who has sent me words of support. I support you all, too.”
