After six episodes, NBC has called it quits on Ellen DeGeneres’ new show One Big Happy.
The show featured Elisha Cuthbert as a lesbian having her best friend Nick Zano’s baby just as he meets a woman and falls in love her. It was the first Primetime network sitcom to have a major lesbian character. Even with the hype of the DeGeneres-produced series, the show couldn’t keep up its ratings.

NBC also cancelled Marry Me, which featured Tymberlee Hill as a regular black lesbian character, and About A Boy.
Family Fortune, a show co-created by and starring comedian Fortune Feimster and executive produced by Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, was not picked up by ABC. The show was to be based on the coming out of a popular gym teacher in North Carolina. Though the pilot did well, Deadline thinks it was too much like The Real O’Neals, a show based on the life of Dan Savage that was picked up instead.
