New Zealand’s first lesbian web series, Pot Luck, has been launched.
The first episode stars three friends, Debs, Mel and Beth, as they sit down for their weekly Tuesday night pot luck dinner.

Mel (Nikki Si’ulepa) is the heart-breaker that plays the field. The episode opens with her and a young girl in bed who soon leaves visibly upset by Mel’s carelessness. Her friend Debs (Anji Kreft) is quite the opposite and is even referred to as having “cobwebs” after her relationship ended six years ago. Beth (Tess Jamieson-Karaha) drops a tart off at her next door neighbor (and mother)’s home and seems to be a “good girl” who has yet to tell her family she is a lesbian. She is also Mel’s ex-girlfriend.

At the end of the friends’ dinner a bet is made. Can Debs stay abstinent until Beth can find a date? And on top of that, can Beth come out to her family?
Pot Luck originated from writer/director Ness Simons because she felt a series needed to be made for “a community who hardly ever gets to see themselves on screen.” With episode one done, the the team is looking to crowdfunding to help raise enough money to cover the next six episodes.
