Tulalip Resort Casino will be teaming up with four renowned Northwest breweries during their Tuesday Tastings “Crafts in the Draft.” A representative from each property will be on hand to discuss the different nuances and flavors about their evenings’ four featured pours. Each flight will be paired with a selection of scrumptious appetizers on select Tuesdays from 7-9 p.m. in The Draft Sports Bar and Grill. The brewery lineup includes Georgetown March 3, Deschutes May 5, Alsan July 7, and Pelican September 8.
“One of my favorite beer quotes is by our third U.S. President Thomas Jefferson — ‘Beer, if drank in moderation, softens the temper, cheers the spirit and promotes health,’’’ says Sommelier, Tommy Thompson.
Since 2008, Georgetown Brewing Company has been located in the cool “North” Georgetown community where they brew on a 60 BBL Chopp/Elston system, with fermentation tanks made by Interior Stainless Inc. Currently they brew around 50K barrels a year with a current capacity that allows them to brew up to 100K a year.
Deschutes Brewery overlooks the wild and scenic Deschutes River in Bend, Oregon; which is home base to their adventurous, award-winning lineup of pioneering beers. Since 1988, they’ve been crafting a roster of high-risk, high-reward beers from Bend’s high desert, using state-of-the-art tools, which allows them to produce iconic beers like their Mirror Pond Pale Ale and Black Butte Porter. They’ve since upped the ante offer with bold, small batch experimental types, such as The Abyss, Hop Trip, and The Dissident.
Aslan Brewing Company is a local Seattle microbrewery committed to pushing the boundaries of craft beer while preserving the purity of brewing tradition. They only use the finest organic ingredients available, creating some of the cleanest and most unique brews in the market today. One of their delicious brews is called Pride of the Organic Northwest.
In 1995, Jeff Schons and Mary Jones purchased an old brick building on the oceanfront in Pacific City. As they knew almost nothing about the brewing process, they decided to attend a Craft Brewers conference in Portland. On May 4, 1996, the Pelican opened its doors and the rest, as they say, is history. The Pelican brews on a copper-clad (no copper touches the beer), steam-fired, three-vessel, 15 BBL (465 gallons) system, which was custom built for them. The atmosphere at the Pelican is laid back, but they take the making of their beer seriously, with six award-winning beers available on tap or by the bottle year-round.
The “Crafts in the Draft” is for those 21 and over. Individual tickets or a Flight Passport can be purchased in advance and are priced at $25 per person for a single tasting or $80 per person for all 4 tastings, including tax and gratuity. For those who wish to stay longer after the tasting can purchase the select beer offerings at a special price of $3 a pint (and will keep them on tap for 2 months). They will also be handing out some swag and prizes.
