Erwin, Dave and Zach, co-owners of The Belltown Pub, are always ones to “get their party on” and their Quatro de Mayo celebration is no exception. This trio of bad boys will be offering food and drink specials on Saturday, May 4 from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. While Cinco de Mayo honors the Battle of Puebla in which General Ignacio Zaragosa’s army defeated the French occupational forces in Mexico on May 5, 1862, there are plenty of events to be remembered on May 4.
“Hey”, says Erwin. “Columbus discovered Jamaica in 1494 on the 4th. Rhode Island declared independence from Britain in 1776 on that date…and how about this piece of trivia – the soap, Another World, premiered on TV in 1964 then.”
Obviously, having several sets of Trivial Pursuit in the games area of The Pub has paid off. Erwin added, “We say, why let the 4th go by unnoticed?”
Chef Zach’s “holiday” menu (in addition to the regular menu) will offer Street Tacos with guests selecting from carne (beef), carnitas (roasted pork) and camarones (shrimp). For the truly hungry, there will be a ridiculously large Mission Burrito. Also featured is a Smoked Salmon Stuffed Pasilla Pepper with rice and beans.
Dave will be presiding over buckets of Corona, pitchers of Margaritas and Bulldogs at the bar. He will also be serving up Sloppy Rita’s, which he says are basically “a Margarita on steroids.”
