Rosie O’Donnell has announced that she is both leaving The View and splitting up with wife of two years, Michelle Rounds. It’s not the first time O’Donnell has exited the show – she returned to The View in September 2014 after leaving in 2007.

The announcement came just before O’Donnell’s Valentine’s Day HBO special: Rosie O’Donnell: A Heartfelt Stand Up. One viewer wrote on O’Donnell’s blog: “The ‘Heartfelt’ documentary should be required viewing for all women. It’s hilarious and entertaining but more importantly, it’s health information every women should know.”

ABC released O’Donnell of her contract without hesitation, according to the network’s statement.

“Rosie is an immensely talented star who comes in each and every morning brimming with ideas, excitement and passion for the show,” the ABC statement said. “When she told us she wanted to exit The View, we respected and understood her desire to put her well-being and her family first. We’re delighted she’s still part of the ABC family with upcoming guest appearances on The Fosters, and we know she’ll return to The View often with her unique point of view and updates on her work and her family.”

It has also been confirmed that O’Donnell and her wife split in November.

“I can confirm that Rosie and her wife Michelle split in November,” Cindi Berger, O’Donnell’s publicist said. “Rosie has teens and an infant at home that need her attention. This has been a very stressful situation. She is putting her personal health and family first. ABC has been wonderfully understanding and supportive of her personal decision to leave The View. Next week will be her last.”

O’Donnell denied rumors that the reason she left the The View was because she didn’t get along with her co-hosts.

“When I sat down with them and said, ‘Here is the deal, this is what’s been going on with me personally and professionally,’ they were great,” O’Donnell said. “It’s not about anybody else.”

O’Donnell has four kids from her first marriage to Kelli Carpenter in 2009. She and Rounds married two years after their split in 2012 and adopted a baby daughter together in 2013.
