A very special shout-out goes to TSL favorite icon Brandi Carlile for her contribution to music in the Emerald City and beyond.
Brandi was presented with the Breakthrough Award last night at the 2nd Annual City of Music Awards presentation in Seattle, WA. The event was open to the public and was held at the Showbox at the Market (1426 1st Avenue, Seattle, WA 98101).
The 21-member Seattle Music Commission chose singer/songwriter and local Seattleite Carlile for the prestigious award handed out on Wednesday, October 6, 2010. A pre-recorded performance was supplied by the Carlile camp to accept the honor.
Additional accolades were presented to Gerard Schwarz (Outstanding Achievement Award), Clarence Acox and Scott Brown (Impact Award).
The City of Music Awards is part of the 12-year Seattle City of Music Initiative. The Initiative’s goal is to create action that enhances the climate for Seattle’s music industry and propels Seattle’s leadership role in music throughout the nation and the world.
This year’s Awards event will also serve as the kickoff for the inaugural City of Music Festival.
