Seattle Acquires Quanitra Hollingsworth and the 20th overall WNBA Draft Selection
The Seattle Storm has acquired 6-5 center Quanitra Hollingsworth and the Mystics 20th overall pick in the 2015 WNBA Draft. In exchange, Seattle sends its 15th overall pick this year to Washington.
“Quanitra adds length and athleticism to our team, which is a primary focus of our roster development,” said Storm President & GM Alisha Valavanis. “She is a talented and smart player and it will be exciting to see her develop under Jenny’s system.”
In four seasons of WNBA competition, Hollingsworth has career averages of 3.7 points and 3.1 rebounds per game. She was drafted ninth overall to Minnesota in the 2009 WNBA Draft and traded to New York on May 27, 2011. After missing the 2012 WNBA season due to Turkish National Team commitments, Hollingsworth was acquired by the Mystics on April 15, 2013. She again missed the 2014 season due to Turkish National Team commitments.
Following overseas stops in Lithuania, Latvia and Russia, Hollingsworth is now playing for Turkish club Fenerbache throughout the current 2014-15 WNBA offseason. With Fenerbache, she is averaging 7.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.
Hollingsworth competed with the Turkey Women’s National Team in the 2012 London Olympics. The team finished in 5th place.
A 2009 graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, Hollingsworth entered college at age 15. After redshirting her freshman year, Hollingsworth racked up impressive numbers over the next four seasons, 2005-09. She left VCU as the Ram’s all-time leading rebounder (1,114), and second all-time in points (1,523).
