Seattle Women’s Chorus (SWC) kicks off its 2012-2013 Season with their fall concert, How Sweet the Sound (October 12-20, 2012) in a spectacular new venue, Saint Mark’s Cathedral on Capitol Hill. SWC celebrates 10 years of big, bold, beautiful music and their 200-plus voices will fill the Cathedral as they pay tribute to the choral tradition and create new rhythms and sounds. They will perform classic French pieces from Ravel, Faure, and Delibes, along with contemporary works by composers such as Eric Whitacre, Morton Lauridsen and Gwyneth Walker. Under Dennis Coleman’s artistic direction, SWC’s concert takes full advantage of the Cathedral’s phenomenal acoustics and dramatic architecture. Chorus members will be positioned at all corners of the sanctuary and will receive introduction from the world-renown Flentrop Pipe Organ in all its glory. In 2013, SWC welcomes special guest and Tacoma native Vicci Martinez for their 10th anniversary concert titled Celebrate! for one night only on Friday, February 8. Together, with SWC, this popular finalist from the hit NBC TV show The Voice will honor many of the great female icons of the music industry in a spectacular diva-licious concert event!

For their 33rd season opener, Seattle Men’s Chorus (SMC) whisks audiences away on an exotic journey through the tropics this holiday season with Baby, It’s Cold Outside (November 20-December 22, 2012), featuring a special opening guest (to be announced) for the first two holiday concerts, along with all the songs, dance, and campy comedy audiences have come to enjoy from Seattle’s other holiday tradition.

In April, SMC welcomes back special guest Leslie Jordan for an ABBA-filled “mash up” of comedy and music in its spring concert, Dancing Queen (April 6-7, 2013); and in June, the season comes to a roaring close when SMC collaborates with The 5th Avenue Theatre on a concert version of a musical favorite, Hairspray (June 20-23, 2013).

Founded in 1979, the internationally renowned Seattle Men’s Chorus, along with Seattle Women’s Chorus (founded in 2002), are the largest community choruses in America; and the largest gay choruses in the world. Flying House Productions, home of Seattle Men’s Chorus and Seattle Women’s Chorus, ranks third among the state’s music organizations with over 300 members of SMC and over 250 members of SWC.

Their Mission is to entertain, enlighten, unify and heal our audience and members, using the power of words and music to recognize the value of gay and straight people and their relationships.
