The Seattle Storm will join Carter Subaru on November 2 at 9 a.m. at Discovery Park for its annual Mountains to Sound Greenway Tree Planting Celebration. Carter Subaru has pledged to plant one tree for every Storm three-pointer made in 2013, and two trees for every three made in the playoffs.
“Partnering with Carter Subaru and having the opportunity to once again participate in the Tree Planting Celebration is important to the Storm organization,” said Brett Bibby, the Storm Vice President of Marketing Partnerships. “We value Carter Subaru’s commitment to carbon neutral and are pleased to join forces through our Go Green initiative to enhance the Mountains to Sound Greenway.”
The event is open to the public, and is a chance for Storm fans to join Storm CEO Karen Bryant in her latest Take Your Health by Storm event. More information can be found at StormBasketball.com.
In its fifth year participating in this program, the Storm has planted 1,064 trees. This season, Seattle connected on 33 percent of their three’s in the regular season, good for seventh best in the WNBA. In her final season in the league, forward Tina Thompson led the way with 60 3’s, fitting as she made her exit as the all-time leading scorer in the league’s history. In her sophomore season, Shekinna Stricklen chipped in with 54 3’s.
Carter Subaru is a long-time Storm partner and is committed to being “On the Road to Carbon Neutral.” With programs like 3’s for Trees and the Carter Subaru Carbon Neutral Garage at Storm games, Carter and the Storm are working together to create a more Green Washington for everyone.
