Seattle Storm Downed by Indiana Fever

Seattle fell 71-63 to the Indiana Fever on Sunday night at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

Indiana opened the game with a 17-4 lead early, but Seattle rattled off a 10-0 run to end the first quarter down 17-14. Outscoring the Fever 16-12 in the second quarter, Seattle held a slim 30-29 lead at the break.

Shekinna Stricklen led the Storm with 11 points off the bench. Camille Little added 10, her seventh game in 2013 where she’s hit double-figures, and had eight rebounds. Tianna Hawkins grabbed a career high five rebounds to go with nine points. Tina Thompson and Tanisha Wright also added nine points apiece.

Seattle tied the game at 50-50 to end the third quarter,  but the Fever scored the next six points in the final period to take the lead for good.

Indiana was paced by Tamika Catchings’ game-high 18 points and six rebounds. Shavonte Zellous added 14 points to become one of five players in the league to have scored double-figures in all games so far this season. Karima Christmas chipped in with 12 points.

The Storm continues their longest road trip of 2013 with a July 2 meeting with Chicago on ESPN2, a Saturday, July 6 matchup with Washington and rounds out the trip at New York on Tuesday, July 9.
