The Seattle Storm Wednesday announced its home preseason game, to be held on May 26, 2015 against the Phoenix Mercury, the reigning WNBA Champions.
The “School Day” game will tip off at 11 a.m. at KeyArena (305 Harrison St., Seattle, WA 98109) and will have a strong health and wellness emphasis for all students in attendance. The Storm will provide an educational packet for school groups, including math, geography and problem solving related to the game. In addition, there will be an in-game health and wellness component, aiming to educate and promote healthy lifestyles in a unique, interactive setting.
“To open the season with a focus on health and wellness in the greater Puget Sound community is a special opportunity,” said Storm President & GM Alisha Valavanis. “Our players serve as wonderful role models and the ‘School Day’ platform aligns with our efforts to continue to support and promote healthy lifestyles to youth in Seattle.”
Group tickets are still available starting at $8 per ticket with a 10-person minimum. Complimentary tickets are provided for teachers and chaperones of the groups.
The full Storm preseason schedule will be announced at a later date.
