On Friday May 19, join the organizers and over 20 local nonprofits for an evening of hope, purpose and action called Community Convergence. The event’s purpose is to meaningfully connect people’s skills with organizations that need them. In the wake of the election, many new organizations sprouted up and existing organizations were overwhelmed with new threats to the communities they serve.
Community Convergence is a three-part, immersive event that will help organizations find the people they need, help people find causes they can support, and inspire any and all who attend. To make sure folks leave fired up and ready to go, a lineup of powerful, celebrated speakers will give lighting talks to lift our spirits and remind us what we’re fighting for.
Firebrands like author and researcher Robin DiAngelo, community organizer Aneelah Afzali, and advocate Ryannah Quigley, among others, will speak to the most pressing issues in our community and our country. Stay tuned to our Facebook group for more speaker announcements.
The event is free, with drinks and snacks available for purchase. Tickets are available at Brown Paper Tickets. Attendees will be asked to complete a short survey at checkout that will provide the organizers with valuable information about people’s skills, passion, and availability.
This event is for everyone. Even if you’re currently unable to get involved with a cause, come get inspired by your community. The march toward justice is not over.
The organizers of the Womxn’s March on Seattle have formed an official organization called Seattle Womxn Marching Forward (SWMF). SWMF is the local chapter of the national Women’s March on Washington organization dedicated to supporting nonprofits and creating accomplices in the struggle toward equity and justice.
