Rumors are circulating that multi-generational music icon Sir Elton John, 63, and his longtime partner David Furnish, 48, have chosen pop sensation Lady Gaga, 24, to be named godmother to their Christmas Day miracle Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John.
Furnish was recently interviewed by Canadian magazine Macleans when the reporter commented on the mumblings, saying, “Correct me if I’m wrong, but Lady Gaga has been named Zachary’s godmother. What led you to choose her?”
Furnish replied, “We haven’t publicly confirmed that yet but your sources are very good!” He then continued, “I prefer not to comment on it because we are going to make a statement about godparents later on.”
Sounds like he just confirmed it!
In regards to parenting little Zachary (who arrived via surrogate), John shared, “I knew it would be incredible, but honestly I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t been so shocked. I’m like a gibbering wreck in front of him.”
Furnish told Macleans, “Elton and I don’t talk about what we hope Zachary grows up to be—musician, doctor or whatever. We just hope he grows up to be happy and that he’s able to do what he wants to do in life and has the freedom to take whatever path.”
Along with Lady Gaga in the religious role, John and Furnish have also reportedly asked their good friends Ingrid Sischy and her partner Sandy Brant.
