SMC-home_2014SUMThe 2013-2014 Season celebrates the depth and power of Seattle Men’s Chorus (SMC) and Seattle Women’s Chorus (SWC) with five engaging concerts. This Fall SWC revels in all things creepy and spooky with Hallows in the Cathedral. SMC presents classic carols of the season with Seattle’s Other Holiday Tradition, Play It Again, Santa!

For We Can Swing It! in February, SWC moves to a new home at the Cornish Playhouse at Seattle Center (formerly the Intiman Playhouse) and pays tribute to the “Rosie the Riveters” and powerful female pioneers of the Northwest. Spring will be Totally Wicked as SMC enters the enchanted world of Broadway master Stephen Schwartz and performs a flurry of his smash-hits. Finally in June SMC will take their captivating production, Falling In Love Again, on a multi-city German tour, but not before sharing one dynamic performance at The Paramount Theatre on June 14.

Tony Award-winning actor and singer Levi Kreis will lend his soulful voice and piano expertise to opening weekend of SMC’s holiday concert, Play it Again, Santa (November 30 and December 1 performances only). In 2010, Levi Kreis won the Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for his portrayal of Jerry Lee Lewis in the Broadway hit Million Dollar Quartet. Also an acclaimed recording artist, Levi’s newest album, Imagine Paradise, explores themes of possibility, opportunity, and gratitude.

For their second concert of the season, We Can Swing It!, SWC welcomes special musical guest The Mood Swings. They will collaborate with SWC on this theatrical concert commission that pays homage to the many women in our nation who played the role of “Rosie the Riveter.” The all-female Big Band ensemble formed in 2005 as a group of six female musicians. Now The Mood Swings play in and around the Seattle area with 17 full-time members and a bold vibrant sound that cannot be ignored. Inspiring a love of jazz, these powerhouse musicians aim to empower all female musicians, making them the perfect addition to SWC’s winter concert.
