Texas Gov. Rick Perry Quits the 2012 Presidential Race

- in Politics

Another one bites the dust following Michele Bachmann and Jon Huntsman’s departures from the shark infested pool of GOP presidential hopefuls. On Thursday, Texas Gov. Rick Perry announced his withdrawal from the controversial race that has had tongues wagging for months.

With the announcement coming just before the South Carolina primary, Perry asked his supporters to cast their votes for Newt Gingrich going forward in his absence. He said, “I believe Newt is a conservative visionary who can transform our country. We’ve had our differences, which campaigns will inevitably have, and Newt is not perfect, but who among us is?”

Gingrich said he was “honored and very humbled to have Perry’s endorsement.”
