The Seattle Lesbian and Gay Film Festival will be featuring The Secret Diaries of Miss Anne Lister on Sunday, October 24, 2010. The drama runs approximately 90-minutes and will be shown at 6:30pm at Pacific Place in Seattle (located at 6th and Pine).
The film features London-trained actresses Maxine Peake and Anna Madeley in a story about a wealthy orphan named Anne Lister (Peake) sent to live with her aunt and uncle. She has no idea that she is a lesbian until she meets the love of her life named Mariana Belcombe (Madeley) right before she is intended to marry. Feeling betrayed and bewildered, Lister writes uncontrollably in her diaries – which threaten to be discovered. She ultimately seeks refuge dressed in manly attire in the hopes of securing herself a wife to share in her rich spoils. Based on a true story.
