Vicci Martinez LIVE in Seattle at Tractor Tavern on Friday, January 13, 2017Vicci Martinez isn’t worried about the rules. The singer-songwriter continually goes against the grain both musically and lyrically. She doesn’t adhere to guidelines of what pop music is supposed to be or how it should be presented. Given her penchant for writing honest, heartfelt songs, she doesn’t have to either. When she hits the studio or the stage, she nods to soulful folk and classic rock with an immortal R&B groove beneath everything.

Martinez is a soulful, acoustic-oriented performer best known for finishing in third place on the 2011 season of NBC’s singing competition The Voice. A native of Tacoma, Washington, Martinez began performing at age 13 and has released several independent albums. At age 16, she auditioned successfully for Fox’s American Idol, but ultimately turned down the opportunity.

Prior to appearing on The Voice, Martinez also competed on Star Search in 2003. In 2011, she released her final performance on The Voice – her original song “Afraid to Sleep” – digitally. After The Voice ended, Martinez toured extensively and released the concert album Live from Jazzbones. In 2012, Martinez released the EP Come Along featuring an appearance from her The Voice coach Cee Lo Green.

On her forthcoming debut album for Universal Republic Records, “VICCI,” the world will get to see Martinez for who she is, and it might just be a better place because of it.
