Seattle Kraken Launches ‘Common Thread’ Program with Diversity Theme Nights

The Seattle Kraken are proud to announce Kraken Common Thread, a new program dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion within Kraken hockey and the local community.

Kraken Common Thread is a localized evolution of the NHL and NHLPA’s Hockey is for Everyone program, with an increased focus and connection to Seattle’s community. The program is highlighted by nine special game nights during the 2024-25 season, plus additional elements including merchandise utilizing the same jersey designs, community outreach, and employee engagement events.

The cornerstone and most visible element of Kraken Common Thread is an elevation of the organization’s artist jersey program, now approaching its fourth year. Local artists from historically underrepresented communities are enrolled in the program to design unique, one-of-a-kind Kraken jerseys corresponding with special game nights at Climate Pledge Arena. The jerseys are then put up for auction to raise funds for One Roof Foundation, the charitable arm of the team and arena.

For the coming season, the Kraken are also excited to add a new Hispanic Heritage Game and Common Thread Jersey. This season’s specialty game nights include:

  • Oct. 19 – Hispanic Heritage Night (vs CGY)
  • Nov. 12 – Military Appreciation Night (vs CBJ)
  • Nov. 20 – Hockey Fights Cancer Night (vs NSH)
  • Dec. 10 – Indigenous Peoples Night (vs FLA)
  • Jan. 6 – Pride Night (vs NJD)
  • Jan. 28 – Lunar New Year Night (vs ANA)
  • Feb. 4 – Black Hockey History Night (vs DET)
  • March 14 – Women in Hockey Night (vs UTA)
  • April 12 – Green Night (vs STL)

“Kraken Common Thread is a commitment to making hockey more inclusive,” said Senior Director of Fan Development Kyle Boyd. “Our goal is for this program to unite our community and create a bond that is stronger than any individual, showcasing the power of togetherness in our shared journey as fans of the great game of hockey.”

This season’s artists and jersey designs will be unveiled in the coming months. Group night tickets for Kraken Common Thread games go on sale Monday, Aug. 12.
