Seattle Pride Seeks 2025 Parade Theme and Grand Marshal Noms

Seattle Pride, producer of the annual Seattle Pride Parade and Seattle Pride in the Park festival, is asking for the community’s help in identifying ideas for the 2025 theme and nominations for parade grand marshal. Seattle Pride will be accepting the submissions through Feb. 28, 2025.

Theme ideas should reflect the heart and soul of the LGBTQIA+ movement, embracing the diversity and intersectionality of the community. Whether it’s a powerful phrase, a symbol of unity, or an ode to resilience, successful themes provide a beacon of hope and a celebration of love, acceptance, and visibility. The public is invited to submit theme ideas via an online form.

Seattle Pride is also requesting nominations for next year’s Seattle Pride Parade grand marshal on its online nomination form. The Seattle Pride Parade grand marshal is a ceremonial role which leads the parade while paving the way for a more inclusive future. Nominees – either a person or an organization – should embody leadership, queer representation, and advocacy within the LGBTQIA+ community.

“We are asking our community for input so we can identify a grand marshal who reflects the Pride spirit and has made a lasting impact for Seattle’s queer community,” said Seattle Pride Executive Director Patti Hearn.

Seattle Pride has hosted several influential LGBTQIA+ community members – as well as local and national celebrities – as grand marshals in years past, including 2024 grand marshals Sue Bird and Megan Rapinoe. Previous grand marshals have also included Shelley Brother and Martha Manning owners of Wildrose, HIV advocate Steven Wakefield, actor George Takei, two-time RuPaul’s Drag Race winner and Broadway star Jinkx Monsoon, author Ijeoma Oluo, and LGTBQIA+ activist and Seattle drag icon Gaysha Starr.
