Seattle Women’s Chorus to Hold Auditions for New Singers

Seattle Women’s Chorus – which has grown to be one of the largest and most successful choruses with two distinct soprano and alto sections in North America – is opening its doors to new chorus members with auditions the evening of Tuesday, September 19.

Seattle Women’s Chorus provides a dynamic and powerful voice for LGBTQ and women’s social justice in the greater Seattle area and throughout the Gay and Lesbian Association of Choruses network worldwide. Creatively themed programs encompass a full range of classical and popular music at Seattle Women’s Chorus shows.

“Making music with the Seattle Women’s Chorus is such a treat,” said Paul Caldwell, Seattle Women’s Chorus and Seattle Men’s Chorus artistic director. “There is something so fantastic about conducting this group of empowered women and watching them create shows that are their own.”

Founded in 2002, Seattle Women’s Chorus has toured the west and led community engagement projects with Women for Women International, Lambert House, Citizens Against Domestic & Sexual Abuse (CADA) and many other organizations. The chorus has had the pleasure of performing with respected artists including composer Bernice Johnson Reagon, country music sensation Chely Wright, actress Kathy Najimy and comedy duo Dos Fallopia.

“Our voices transform society through innovative and entertaining programs that build community, illuminate diverse experiences and inspire justice,” said Craig Coogan, interim executive director of Seattle Women’s Chorus and Seattle Men’s Chorus. “Seattle Women’s Chorus is a home for women of all identities to sing their hearts out.”

Seattle Women’s Chorus rehearsal obligations include Tuesday evenings through performance week and at minimum one Saturday rehearsal each concert cycle.

Those interested in auditioning are encouraged to complete this form on the Seattle Women’s Chorus website, and audition details will be distributed via email.
